This is a great endeavor to record and report about the Hadiya nation. I had always been envious about the Hadiya because Hadiya politicians are not contributing much to the Hadiya cause. We might not agree what is the Hadiya cause but am sure we can agree that Hadiya did not find its rightful place in the Ethiopian power politics. Whatever the historical background; the larger Hadiya populace loves Ethiopia according to my observation during my two years stay in Hosanna. The Hadiya people love and care for Ethiopia which is not advantageous in the now existing ethnically structured Ethiopia. Am not suggesting strict ethnic enclosure but I believe that Hadiyya elites need to maneuver the existing system to give Hadiya it’s deserved Political Power. I found this website accidentally and I have much appreciation for the ones who initiated and created it. Keep Up The Good Work!
Thank you Abel Wondimu Haile for your observation of the good, the bad and the challenges faced by the people of Hadiya! I assume you also hail from the same community. Your point on Hadiya’s own politicians failing the people is accurate. It is bewildering why they neglect to contribute towards preserving and reviving Hadiyyisa, the culture and identity — these things are non-political or non-controversial. Individuals should stop waiting for these leaders to change. Each of us should contribute our small part individually or working in teams.
